Meet Dr. Wurm

There’s nothing better than building a person’s confidence by creating a healthy and stunning smile. Yes, I care about making teeth healthy and strong, but ultimately what motivates me to want to come into work every day is seeing the effect that orthodontic treatment can have on the person as a whole. The smile is our first impression, our introduction to others. Whether it’s a job interview, a first date, or just laughing with friends, that confidence shines through. It's an honor to be a part of my patients’ journey to a better self, and that’s what drives me to give my best and be committed to helping them look and feel their best.

I was drawn to the medical field from a young age. I find all aspects of the human body fascinating—how everyone can be the same, and yet so different. As fate would have it, I had close friends whose dads were dentists. I credit their enthusiasm for their work as what sparked my interest and guided me down this career path.

It wasn’t until later in dental school, when I had my first class in orthodontics, that an interest became a passion! The diagnostic puzzle of each person's teeth, the relationships built along the way, the long-term benefit you can have on someone's teeth, the positive effect you can have on them as a person—I don't think there's a single job more fulfilling and I feel blessed to be able to do it every day.

My Education: A Golden Eagle Through and Through

While I grew up in Appleton, I was originally born here in Milwaukee and felt at home as soon as I came back for college. I am proud to have attended Marquette University for my 10 years of education, earning my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences, Doctorate of Dental Surgery, and my Orthodontic Specialty Certificate and Master of Science degree. Marquette gave me the knowledge, skills, and sense of community to transform the world around me, and I can’t imagine anything more transforming than changing a person’s smile.

I was also instilled with the desire not only to meet, but to exceed the standards of my profession. My education never stops as I am always seeking opportunities to learn how to create the best results for my patients with efficiency and the least stress along the way.

At Home on the North Shore

I met my best friend, Abbey, during our time at Marquette and love the life we have built together. We have two incredible boys, Wade and Dawson, full of smiles and endless energy. And we can't forget our firstborn, Harvey, our Goldendoodle, who will greet anyone like they are his long-lost best friend. My primary job is being a husband and dad, and it’s maybe the only job more rewarding than being an orthodontist.

Abbey and I have a borderline unhealthy love for coffee. Combine that with our high-energy, low-sleep children, you can typically find us on the weekends making a stop (or two) at Colectivo or Stone Creek. We also enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling to find new places to hike. I grew up playing soccer and still try to keep the rust off my legs. If you happen to be out at Uihlein Fields on Friday nights, you might spot me! Most of all, I enjoy watching my two boys growing up and seeing the joy and amazement they find in all the little things in life.
